Obtain peace bond

What is Peace Bond and how to obtain it?

If you have concerns about someone posing a threat to your safety, the safety of your intimate partner, or your child, as well as the potential for property damage, or the unauthorized sharing of intimate images or videos, you have the option to seek a peace bond against that individual.

This order mandates an individual to uphold the peace and exhibit good behavior. A peace bond can impose restrictions on various aspects of a person's life, including their actions, locations they can visit, and individuals they can contact.

For instance, conditions of a peace bond may prohibit the person from contacting or visiting you or any member of your family, approaching your property, being within a specified distance of you or your family, and possessing weapons. These conditions are specifically tailored to address your unique situation and can be enforced for a duration of up to one year.

If you successfully secure a peace bond against someone, it is imperative that they adhere to the specified conditions. Any violation of these conditions may lead to criminal charges. It's important to note that a peace bond is an order issued under section 810 of the Criminal Code and should not be confused with a restraining order.
