Steps for Notarizing Documents


Valid Government-Issued Picture ID

Please bring in valid Government issued picture ID with you. Please make sure the ID is not expired. The identification document must also indicate your signature. Acceptable ID's include: Driver Licence, Passport. Please note health card is not a valid picture ID in Ontario.


Do NOT Sign or Date Documents


Please do not sign or date the documents prior to coming to your appointment. Once you come to the office, Notary Public will identify you and witness your signatures.


Complete all Documents


Prior to your appointment, please make sure you complete the documents except signatures and dates.


Certified Documents

Please make sure that you bring the original document as Notary Public must view the original in order to certify the documents.

remote Virtual commissioning

As remote commissioning is not conducted in the physical presence of the commissioner, there are certain steps that must be taken to complete the commissioning process.


Please make sure that that you determine with the party who will be receiving the commissioning documents is willing to accept a remotely commissioned document. 


Method of Communication

The commissioner administrating the oath or declaration of the deponent or declarant, both parties must be able to see, hear and communicate with each other in real time. 


Confirm the deponent's Identity

Please have the high-resolution digital images of both sides of valid government issued photo identification.


Do NOT Sign or Date Documents


Please do not sign or date the documents prior to coming to your appointment. 


Complete all Documents


Prior to your appointment, please make sure you complete the documents except signatures and dates.


There are two ways we can complete commissioning the documents:


1- You sign the document that is visible to the commissioner through video. You will then return the original executed document to the commissioner who upon receipt will signs the document as a witness to your signature. 


2-  Both commissioner and you log into the same platform to view and electronically sign the same document simultaneously, despite being in different physical locations.
